Ombre/Misting

Ombre/Misting

Ombre involves an airbrushing technique that deposits a fine mist of colour along the brow line. Colour is applied more heavily from the tails of the brows and gradually fades out at the head of the brow for an ‘Ombre’ effect. It gives a softer, powder fill effect unlike the ‘block’ tattooing of the past. Ombre can also help to camouflage old, faded tattooing. This technique is perfect for those who have mature, or oily to combination skin.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER OMBRE PROCEDURE?
The healing process after an Ombre procedure varies from client to client based on many factors. This could include but is not limited to: the artist’s technique, pigment used, aftercare instructions, whether or not shading was done, as well as overall how someone’s skin reacts to the procedure.

Some of the most common things clients can expect after a microblading procedure are:

  • Tenderness in the area
  • Pink or redness around the affected area
  • Swelling
  • Thickening and darkening of the area
  • Moderate to thick scabbing 3-4 days after the procedure
  • Scabs will begin to flake off anytime between days 5-10
  • After scabs flake off, pigment colour and strokes will look light, grey and blurry
  • After area is fully healed (4 weeks after procedure) the pigment will return to full colour

How Long Does Ombre Brows Last?

Ombre brows typically last 18 to 38 months. Results do vary based on lifestyle, skin type, health etc

CONSIDERATIONS
• Botox – Get Ombre done BEFORE you get Botox so your muscles will be in a normal state of movement. If you regularly use Botox, you will need to wait 4 weeks after Botox before doing Ombre to allow the Botox to settle in at its full effect.
• Vacations – Ombre is a tattoo and therefore is a mild injury to the skin which takes time to heal. If you are planning to go to a hot destination involving sun, sweating and swimming, make sure you give your skin two weeks to heal post Ombre before showing off your newly Ombre brows by the beach or pool.
• Those with allergies to alcohol or numbing agents.
• Children. Ombre is for adults only! We do not recommend Ombre for anyone under the age of 18.
• Pregnancy or while breast feeding.
• After chemical peels or laser (must wait 4 weeks).

OMBRE PRE & AFTERCARE
It all starts with a good canvas! Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure:
• Do not pick/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before the procedure
• Do not tan 2 weeks prior to the service, or have a sunburned face
• Do not have any type of facial 2 weeks prior
• Do not work out the day of procedure
• Do not have Botox 3-4 weeks prior to the procedure
• Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E 1 week prior to the procedure (they are natural blood thinners)
• Do not wax or tint your eyebrows 3 days prior to the procedure

In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor colour deposit:
• Do not drink alcohol 24-48 hours before your tattoo
• Do not consume coffee before your procedure
• Do not take Asprin or Ibuprofen for pain relief (these also thin the blood) at least 48-72 hours prior to the procedure. (Tylenol or acetaminophen is okay)!
• Shower and fix your hair as you need to take extra care not to get your brows wet for several days.

THE DAY OF PROCEDURE
After the procedure, gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this every 5 minutes for the full day until oozing has stopped. Removing the fluid prevents hardening of the lymphatic fluids.

AFTER THE PROCEDURE
Days 1 to 7: Moisturise: Apply a rice grain amount of aftercare ointment with a cotton tip and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate the skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin.

REMINDERS
• Do not wet brows for the first 5 days.
• Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep
• Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of colour.
• No facials, Botox, chemical treatments, or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks before and after.
• Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.
• Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.
• Avoid long, hot showers for the first 10 days.
• Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.
• Avoid face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 10 days.
• Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen in the area.
• Do not rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.
• Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body.
• You cannot donate blood for 6 months following any cosmetic tattoo procedure.

Touch Up

A touch-up procedure is recommended 4-6 weeks after initial treatment.

HEALING STAGES

Day 2 – They look very dark, bold, and thicker. Colour will be reddish and still quite tender.
Day 3-4 – The pain and tenderness will start to subside. They still look dark and thick.
Day 5-7 – The brows are getting itchy and a thick layer of scabbing may form and the fine hair strokes that were created may be hidden (DO NOT PICK THE SCAB)
Day 7-10 – The scabs will probably be flaked off or flaking off on their own by this point the brows seem way too light or even grey and missing spots.
